These are mainly employer sponsored temporary visas. Employer can sponsor and nominates the people with skills which are in shortage in Australia. There are pathways to get permanent visas for these work visa holders. Main Australian work visas are:
Temporary Work (Skilled) Visa (subclass 457): Applicants need to be sponsored by an Approved Business Sponsor to be eligible for this visa subclass. This is a temporary visa which allows the visa holder to live and work for approved sponsor for up to 4 years.
Employers Nomination Scheme Visa (Subclass 186): This is a permanent visa for skilled workers, sponsored by an approved Australian employer to work and live in Australia Permanently. Applicant must meet the skill, education and English language requirements to apply for this visa along with the nomination from approved employer.
Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme Visa (Subclass 187): This is a permanent visa for skilled workers to be worked in Regional Australia. Applicant need to be nominated by a regional approved sponsor and must meet the skill, education and English Language requirements.
Training Visa (Subclass 407): This is a temporary visa which allows the visa holders to enhance their skills in their current occupations or field of expertise or area of current qualifications through workplace based training in Australia for up to 2 years. Applicant must be nominated by an eligible Australian employer.
Working Holiday Visa (Subclass 417/462): These visas are only available to the passport holders of the Eligible countries. Applicant must be between 18-31 years old to apply for this visa. These are temporary visas which allows the visa holders to live and work in Australia up to 1 year.
