People who have half or more than half of their children are settled in Australia (Australian Citizens or Permanent Resident or Eligible New Zealand Citizen) can apply for parent’s visa both Onshore and Offshore.
Offshore Contributory (Temporary) Parents Visa (Subclass 173): This is a temporary visa which allows the visa holder to stay in Australia up to 2 years. Applicant must meet the family balance test and they must have one of their child as sponsor. This is very expensive visa, cost around AUD 31000.
Offshore Contributory (Permanent) Parents Visa (Subclass 143): This a permanent visa which allows the visa holder to live and work permanently in Australia. Once granted, visa holder can also access the Medicare and government funded Health related schemes and programmes. It is a very expensive visa, which cost around AUD 45000 per parent.
Onshore Contributory (Permanent)Aged Parent Visa (Subclass 864): Applicants who are at least 65 years of age and in Australia can apply for this visa. This is a permanent visa and cost around AUD 45000 per parent. Applicant can access Medicare and other government funded health related schemes and programmes.
Offshore Non-Contributory (Permanent) Parent Visa (Subclass 103): This is an offshore permanent visa which can take a very long time to process. Currently, it has approximately 30 years waiting time.
Onshore Non-Contributory (Permanent) Aged Parent visa (Subclass 804): This is an onshore permanent visa but the processing time for this visa is extremely long (around 30 years). Applicants can stay in Australia during the processing of the visa but they have to manage their own private health insurance as they cannot access Medicare or any medical benefit from the Australian government.
